
Monica Seles arguably the most adored Tennis star of the 90's and probably of all time has chronicled the story of her life so far in a book titled "Getting A Grip: On My Body, My Mind, My Self."
Youngest woman ever to win French Open at 16, Monica Seles marched on to 7 grand slams out of a possible 9 in as short as a two-year period, became World No.1 at 17 and was only stopped by a crazed opponent's fan who stabbed her with a knife in the back during a march at the age of 18.
The stabbing however was the beginning of a series of problems that unfolded in Monica Seles young life and these included cancer diagnosis for her father, her subsequent road into depression and food addiction.
However, through strength of character and help from friends and family she managed to get back on her feet, she even made a comeback and made it into the top five in the female tennis world rankings. Now retired, she now spends most of her time supporting charity work mainly for needy youngsters and abandoned pets.
